This 10 days safari will take you hiking mountain Rwenzori to it's highest peak, Magherita. Which is at an altitude of 5109m.
Itineraries
Day 1
Set off from kampala to Kasese
You will be picked by your guide /driver and drive to kaseses via Mubende Fortportal. Have a stopover for lunch and continue to kasese. Check into Hotel Magherita for relaxation and the night.
Day 2
Drive to Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba hut
After breakfast drive to Nyakalengija which is 1646m from here you will start off on 5-6 hours hike on the mountain of the moon.
You will ascend along the rocks cross mubuku, pass through equatorial vegetation where you will spot blue monkeys, rwenzori turaco.
Arrive at Nyabitaba hut for dinner and night stay.
Day 3
From Nyabitaba hut toJohn Matte hut
After breakfast, continue with the hike. Today's hike will take about 9 hours.
You will pass through the muddy areas with a view of Mubuku river. Will reach the Rocky land that connects to Nyamulenju hut. Continue with the hike and reach John Matte hut. Here there is a great view of snow cappedMargheritah peak, Elena peak and Mount Stanley peak. Night at John Matte hut
Day 4
Leave John Matte to Bujuku hut
This hike will take about 5-6 hours to get to Bujuku hut. You will cross Bujuku river and slope to Bigo bog with amazing views of the peaks. Proceed and pass by lake Bujuku where the Alpine Savannah vegetation starts from. Arrive at Bujuku hut for the night
Day 5
Elena hut
After early breakfast, continue with the hike through the groundsel vegetation. You will ascend to scott Elliot pass this is between Mount Stanley and Baker. Reach Elena hut and have dinner and spend the night.
Day 6
To Kitandara hut
Set off to Kitandara from Elena for the 3 hours hike and climb the last region of ice and rock on Mount Stanley which takes you margherita peak.
After the experience at the top, descend via the muddy grounds of Kitandara lake. Spend the night at Kitandara hut.
Day 7
Leave Kitandara hut and head to Guy Yeoman, transfer to Nyabitaba
In the morning, start the 6 hours hike through the fresh field pass at 4282m as you descend through
boggyy and Rocky areas. There are amazing glaciers at Mount Baker, savoy and Stanley. Continue with a muddy path that leads you to kabamba, Akendahi and Bujongolo rock shelters.
Proceed through the kabamba valley and then arrive at Guy Yeoman hut found at 3261m.
Day 8
Depart from Guy Yeoman back to Nyakalengija hut.
Early morning depart to Nyakalengija. Enjoy views of flowers, plants, bamboo forest, Kinchuchu and Mubuke rivers. Along the way you will see kabamab waterfalls. Arrive at Nyabitaba hut and take some time to visit mahoma lake come back to the hut then proceed to the headquarters. Spend the night at a hotel.
Day 9
Drive back to Kampala
After breakfast, embark on the journey back to Kampala. Via Mbarara. Have a stopover at the Equator for water experiments and photography. Visit the crafts market for sourveniors. Arrive at the airport for your flight.
End of trip.
